In 2003, Adnan Sarwar served as a British soldier during the war in Iraq. Twenty years later, he returns to explore the country that became an obsession for him. His thousand-mile journey takes him from the high mountains of Kurdistan to the capital Baghdad, then on to the marshes and the deserts. From the snow-covered peaks where he joins wildlife activists releasing bears, to the tunnels of Mosul holding astonishing discoveries, and the booming oil refineries. In Baghdad, he witnesses the recording of a popular TV show, before heading south through the inhabited marshes, where he spends the night, and finally arriving in Basra, the city where he once served.
